Pricing, Plans & Billing
Plan prices
FreshCrate offers three weekly meal plans, billed monthly (about four boxes a month):
- 2 meals/week — $30/week ($120/month)
- 3 meals/week — $42/week ($168/month)
- 4 meals/week — $52/week ($208/month)
How meals are priced
Every meal has a list price of $17.50 — what you'd pay à la carte. The meals included in your plan each week are free as part of your subscription; you'll see the $17.50 list price struck through with "Free" next to it in your orders. Add-ons (sides, desserts, drinks) are charged on top, whether the meal is a plan meal or an extra one.
Add-ons are priced by type: sides $4.99, desserts $5.99, drinks $3.49. The menu article lists what is on each dietary track.
Because your plan meals are free, a plan costs less than buying the same meals à la carte at $17.50 each:
- 2 meals/week — $30/week vs $35 à la carte → you save $5/week
- 3 meals/week — $42/week vs $52.50 à la carte → you save $10.50/week
- 4 meals/week — $52/week vs $70 à la carte → you save $18/week
You can also order extra meals beyond your weekly plan. Extra meals are not free — they're charged at the $17.50 list price (plus any add-ons).
Refunds
If a meal arrives damaged or is missing, you're refunded its list price plus any add-ons — this applies both to your free plan meals and to extra meals you paid for. A refund can be confirmed right in chat when it's $20 or less and you haven't had another refund in the last 14 days; anything larger, a second refund within that 14-day window, or a second refund on an order that was already refunded is reviewed by a human first. Fees — sign-up, pause hold, plan-change, and monthly plan charges — are not refundable. See the refunds article for details.
Changing your plan
You can switch between the 2, 3, and 4 meals/week plans any time (while your subscription is active or paused). The change is prorated: you're charged or credited the difference in the weekly rate for the weeks remaining until your billing date, and your new plan starts the following week. There's no fee to switch. A cancelled subscription must be reactivated before (or while) changing plan.
How pause billing works
Pausing keeps your plan reserved for a flat $8/week pause fee. When you pause, you're credited the value of each week you'll skip before your next billing date, minus that $8/week fee — so a 2 meals/week customer ($30/week) with 2 weeks until billing gets a $44 credit (2 × ($30 − $8)). After that, the $8/week fee is billed on each billing date for as long as you stay paused — that's $32 for a full month, or less for a part-month if your pause ends mid-cycle. This works the same whether you paused for a set number of weeks or indefinitely. When you resume, you're charged for the weeks left until billing at your plan's weekly rate, again minus $8/week. You can pause for 1–52 weeks, until a date within a year, or indefinitely.
Cancelling and the reactivation sign-up fee
Cancelling is free and stops future boxes. Reactivating a cancelled subscription charges a one-time $40 sign-up fee — UNLESS you resubscribe before your billing date on the same plan, in which case reactivation is free. (Resuming a paused subscription is always free and immediate.)
Your billing history
Your order history shows everything on your account in one place: each meal order (with what was charged), plus monthly plan payments, sign-up fees, pause hold fees, plan-change prorations, and refunds.
